Apple reported revenues of $53.3 billion for its fiscal third quarter to June, up 17 percent from a year earlier and near the top of its guidance. The company's net profit jumped to $11.5 billion from USD 8.7 billion over the same period.

ARM, the UK-based chip designer that is now part of SoftBank, has agreed to buy Treasure Data, a US based data analytics. Treasure Data's customers include auto maker Subaru, Japanese retailer Muji and gaming company Survios. According to a Bloomberg report citing unnamed sources, the deal could be worth as much as $600 million.

• According to the BBC, it has now been discovered that the cyberattack on Dixons Carphone exposed the details of around 10 million people. Initially it had been thought that the records of 1.2 million customers had been affected. While Dixons maintains that no bank details were taken, other personal information, including names, addresses and email addresses had been potentially hoovered up.
