Malware Christmas gifts

With Christmas come renewed warning of three malware strains in the form of Emotet, GratefulPOS and Zeus Panda.

GratefulPOS appears to be new and targets Point of Sale (POS) systems. Zeus Panda has a habit of altering search page results and then pointing to dangerous download links. Emotet is noted as perhaps the most dangerous, containing polymorphic features and repackaging code in order to avoid detection.

As usual latest updates should be installed and due care taken – which, of course, the average user won’t.
