RR launches into data

Engineering concern Rolls-Royce has launched R2 Data Labs, an in-house incubator for advanced data use.

Using advanced data analytics, industrial AI (of course) and machine learning to create new value, insight, services and applications from data to better support customers.

The official release notes that there is “huge untapped potential” in data to drive more efficient operations, helped by the company’s engineering and sector experience.

R2 Data Labs will also attempt new methods of working, using ‘data innovation cells’, with multifunctional expertise in a matrix-style organisation working in intensive sprints of no more than 90 days, applying DevOps practices to rapidly identify new insights and build new apps that can be developed into solutions and applications.
