Lloyds bans Bitcoin from credit cards

Lloyds Bank, Bank of Scotland, Halifax and MBNA customers will no longer be able to purchase crypto currencies via their credit cards as the parent group clamps down.

Interestingly the ban will not apply to debit cards, implying that Lloyds Banking Group is most concerned about customers buying with money they cannot repay should prices slump (again).

The move follows similar policy changes in the US, where Bank of America, Capital One, Citigroup, Discover and JP Morgan and others have enacted bans.
