Android Pie out of beta

The new version of Google’s smartphone OS, enhanced by AI and machine learning, will roll out to commercial devices over the coming months.

Following months of tests - Android P was first released in beta in May to over 14,000 developers and seven manufacturers to test preview builds – the new operating system rolls out to Google Pixel phones and other devices over the coming months.

The new software makes increased use of machine learning and artificial intelligence to improve phone features such as battery life and screen brightnesss, and also introduces new app 'actions' and 'slices' to make it easier to find and access apps quickly.

Android 9 continues the company's habit of naming each release after a sweet or dessert (what happens with and after Z?).
