Brexit: making talent work

Sponsored by OpenText
Tuesday 12 February
The Ned, 27 Poultry, London EC2R 8AJ

It is an old adage that a business is only as strong as its people. Employees drive change, progress and productivity. But, with Brexit on the horizon and the arrival of a new immigration regime, key industries ranging from finance to manufacturing to farming are facing challenges when it comes to workforce management, retention and keeping track of employee data.

With Unilever’s contested plan to transfer jobs to Amsterdam, and financial services firms gearing up to move key staff to European centres in Frankfurt and Paris, warnings about the impact of Brexit on workforces and the talent pipeline is high on the news agenda.

As a result, companies will be expected to communicate clearly with employees about the impact of changes such as the end to free movement, new workplace rights and how and where employee documentation is stored – often without clear guidance from the government on how a Brexit deal or ‘no deal’ scenario will affect HR policies and hiring practices.

On the corporate side, firms will also need to assess how a fall in EU workers to the UK, special immigration requirements and skills shortages could affect their long-term growth strategy.

There may also be questions about the need to modernise information governance systems to ensure employee documents and data are secure, accessible and easy to analyse against key metrics such as diversity, demographics and qualifications.

To understand these challenges, and what they might mean for recruitment and retention of talent in your industry in the years to come, join us, OpenText and Mike Theaker, SAP Global HR Value Advisor, for an evening of discussion at The Ned.

Topics will include:

• Recruitment and retention: Will Brexit mean a drying up or flight of talent from key UK industries?
• Policy and people: What is the government telling us about new immigration system, and what does it mean for existing and future workers?
• Information governance: How and where are firms storing their employee data?
• Risk management: How are companies using technology to guard against workforce upheaval?

Timings for the evening:

18:30 – 19:00 Welcome and refreshments
19:00 – 20:00 Introduction to fellow guests, presentations and discussion
20:00 – onwards Complimentary three-course dinner
