Intel: fixes could slow machines
Written by Mark Evans
Intel has estimated that the fixes for the Meltdown and Spectre flaws could slow performance slowdown from between 2 per cent to 14 per cent.
A patch designed to fix the vulnerability should not be significant for an "average computer users".
Of course, this leaves a big question mark over what an ‘average user’ is and how old the chip is, with some pointing out that older machines could suffer worse effects.
Intel is now facing a growing number of lawsuits.
