Western Union expands tech with Indian centre

Western Union has launched the Western Union Technology Engineering Centre (WUTEC) in India in a new 125,000 square feet facility in Pune, Maharashtra.

The centre will serve will serve as the company’s innovation and engineering hub in the region, employing more than 1,000 skilled individuals.

Western Union’s investment in India is part of a broader fintech and innovation strategy as it makes its digital transformation, and creates a hub in the heart of one of the growing areas of payments use.

Western Union’s global technology centres, including Denver, Montvale, San Francisco and now Pune, are tasked with developing a range of technologies, including robotics, machine learning, predictive modelling, and biometrics.
